چکیده

Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between estimated oxygen consumption (VO2max) and handgrip strength (HGS) among healthy young Nigerian adults. Methods: was a cross sectional study, which involved 400 volunteers (171 males; 229 females) aged 18–40years. Participants’ HGS assessed using CAMRY EH-101 hand dynamometer while VO2max standard formula that includes measurement of resting heart rate. Demographic data summarized percentages, mean deviation. Physical activity level participants long form International Activity Questionnaire. Independent t-test used to compare values variables male female participants. Pearson’s correlation determine HGS, multiple regression analysis conducted predictors as well body mass index (BMI), physical (PA) level, age sex co‐variates. Level significance set at p<0.05. Results: PA were significantly (p= 0.001) different There significant moderate (r= 0.40, p= 0.001). The results showed is not predictor VO2max; whereas, sex, BMI VO2max. Conclusion: Although moderately correlated with VO2max, may be relevant tool for predicting in

Gender differences and laterality in maximal handgrip strength and controlled force exertion in young adults

This study examines gender differences and laterality in maximal handgrip strength and controlled force exertion (CFE) in young adults. The subjects were 75 healthy young males (mean age 19.6 ± 1.6 yrs.) and 50 healthy young females (mean age 20.9 ± 1.9 yrs.). Maximal handgrip strength was measured twice. The subjects performed the CFE test three times after one practice trial. They matched the...

Analysis of the Association between Hand Preference, Gender, Eye Dominance, 2D:4D Ratio and Handgrip Strength in Young Healthy Individuals

Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the association between hand preference in young healthy individuals and handgrip strength (HGS), (which is accepted to be an objective measurement in the assessment of gender), 2D:4D ratio (ratio of the length of index finger to that of ring finger), eye dominance and upper limb performance. Methods: A total of 198 individuals, 111 males and 8...

Endurance training increases exercise-induced prostacyclin release in young, healthy men--relationship with VO2max.

In the present study, we evaluated the effect of 5 weeks of moderate-intensity endurance training on the basal and exercise-induced systemic release of prostacyclin (PGI(2)), as assessed by plasma 6-keto-PGF(1 alpha) concentration. Twelve physically active young men with the following characteristics participated in this study (the mean +/- SD): age, 22.7 +/- 2.0 years; body mass, 76.8 +/- 8.9 ...
